1050 Fifth Avenue, Penthouse B Sold for $8.0M by Stan Ponte and Matthew Fox
A two-bedroom Fifth Avenue penthouse on Museum Mile, with a bowed 14-foot window over Central Park and the Reservoir and a private wraparound terrace, has sold through Sotheby's International Realty.
Stan Ponte and Matthew Fox of Sotheby's International Realty have sold Penthouse B at 1050 Fifth Avenue, a two-bedroom co-op on Museum Mile directly across from Central Park, for $8 million. The sale closed in October.
The penthouse has sweeping park views from the great room and both bedrooms. Its centerpiece is a bowed 14-foot window that takes in the skyline from the Empire State Building to the George Washington Bridge, with the fountain of the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir in the foreground. Just past the window, an expansive private wraparound terrace adds outdoor space for dining, lounging and watching the skyline. According to the listing, the apartment was once the home of Marion Labau Dickerman, a great-grandchild of Cornelius Vanderbilt, and this was only the second time in 70 years that it had come to market.
The winged two-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath layout keeps the bedrooms private while leaving room to entertain. A formal dining room and the renovated kitchen, with Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances and a butler's door, take the open eastern exposures. The primary suite is 25 feet long, with its own terrace access and a newly redone en-suite bath with an adjoining closet and dressing area. The corner second bedroom faces south and west over the park, with its own bath and terrace access.
The building between the Met and the Guggenheim offers white-glove service, an on-site resident manager, a fitness center, storage, a bike room and an on-site garage. With this sale, Ponte and Fox have placed one of Fifth Avenue's park-facing penthouses with its next owner.
