Serena Boardman of Sotheby's International Realty has sold Apartment 6/7A at 895 Park Avenue, a corner duplex at Park Avenue and 79th Street, for $12.5 million. The sale closed in October.

The 14-room home is laid out for large-scale entertaining. An expansive gallery with a sweeping staircase opens onto a vast corner living room, with a handsome library and a large dining room with double exposures alongside. The public rooms have high ceilings, hardwood floors, hand-carved moldings and period fireplace mantels. Their real distinction is the run of open exposures over the broad sweep of Park Avenue and 79th Street.

The lower floor also has a powder room and a guest bedroom with an en-suite bath off the entry hall, plus a sizable butler's pantry, the lovingly restored original kitchen and a breakfast room. Upstairs, the corner primary bedroom has a large double bath, ample closets and a dressing area, and a sitting room that was originally a second bedroom with its own bath. Two more bedrooms along Park Avenue each have en-suite baths. Beyond them are three staff rooms, a walk-in sauna and a back staircase to the kitchen, which together leave room for a sixth bedroom, a playroom or an office.

Sloan and Robertson designed the white-glove cooperative in 1930, at the height of the Art Deco movement. It has a full-time doorman and porters, a resident manager, a private fitness center, a squash and basketball court and individual storage units. With this sale, Boardman has placed one of Park Avenue's grand prewar duplexes with its next owner.
